Welcome to “Praying the Psalms with Jesus” Summer series. There is no video for today BUT I do have a weekend excursion for you.

This past week we talked about the three stages of life … the “blessed life”, the PIT and God’s rescue. We also noted that in all of the stages and emotions of life God provides us with words. We can acknowledge the emotion and affirm the promises of God by saying …

“There’s a Psalm for that.”

You can access PDF’s of those concepts here …

This weekend, read and listen to the Psalms that speak of the following …

The Penitential Psalms:

  • Psalms  6, 32, 38, 51
  • Psalms 102, 130, 143

Questions and Lament:

  • Psalms 3-5, 9-10, 13-14, 22, 25
  • Psalms 39, 41, 42-43, 54-57, 69-71
  • Psalms 77, 86, 88, 140-142

Imprecatory Psalms:

  • Psalms 5, 10, 17, 35, 58, 59
  • Psalms  69, 70, 79, 83, 109, 129, 137, and 140

Awe, Thanks and Praise:

  • Psalms 65, 67, 75
  • Psalms 107, 124
  • Psalms 136, 139, 145-150

Here are some reading plan options …

We’re traveling at the “pace of poetry” and learning to pray the Psalms with Jesus. Here’s a summary of where we have visited in the past weeks. The OnePagers below contains all of the videos and audio files. It’s a wonderful way to review the trip so far.

If you get overwhelmed or lost, you can always return to the “Praying the Psalms with Jesus” course hosted on the eXPlain it portal. This digital platform will serve as home base for the series.

You can sign up for the course and access all of the daily itineraries here …

In-Person Gatherings (twice a month)

Warren and Elise Arndt would like to open up their home in Troy, MI twice a month during the Summer for a community gathering (“ekklesia”) and study of the Psalms. Weather permitting, these gatherings will be hosted outside. If you plan on attending, could you bring your own lawn chair. We’ll pray for good weather.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll provide a ZOOM backup option.

Dates are as follows …

  • Wednesday, August 18th at 6:30 pm

If you are in the Metro Detroit Area and would like to attend the community gathering please let me know so that we can prepare an adequate outdoor space. Also, if you need directions to Warren and Elise Arndt’s home, just reply to this email and I’ll send you their address.

Much joy and peace to us in Jesus,

Paul
